(1) Using & Promoting Fair Trade Principles
AURA QUE works closely with various Nepalese manufacturers, including charity-based organisations that are IFAT members to ensure healthy and safe work environments, and payment of fair prices. We also encourage trade for small Nepalese family businesses and aim to build long term relationships with these suppliers, under the same fair trade principles. Designer Laura Queening works directly with all producer groups in Kathmandu, spending time in their factories and workshops, finding out how all materials are made and working with sample makers on new designs.Fair Trade certification or membership can be too difficult to obtain for many of our small producer groups and individuals who help make the materials that are part of our AURA QUE products. But we are happy just working directly with these producers, encouraging them with our orders, and spending time with them in their work environment.
AURA QUE aims to make a difference to the working lives of the people we work with, by investing in equipment, encouraging repeat orders and developing the technical skills of the producers.
