A rock is added for weight partway through the process, helping the balls become denser through friction whilst minimising soap and water consumption. Fascinating to watch and fun to try too! The balls are dried en mass in the sun and then the artisans sit on the padded workshop floor, using their toes to keep the balls in place while hand-stitching and threading our decorations and felt dining range.
