ABOUT THE COLOURWAY
For the trim, Multi Cream uses a cool, natural melange created from undyed wool, with a predominantly soft creamy-white appearance and delicate wisps of pale grey fibre adding subtle natural variation. The main pattern brings together complementary colours from repurposed wool remnants left over in the workshop, creating a distinctive, characterful mix. As the wool is upcycled, the exact combination of colours varies slightly from one design to the next, making each piece unique.

HANDMADE IN NEPAL
AURA QUE has worked with the artisans who make our repurposed wool knitwear since 2009. The designs are hand-knitted by artisans in Kathmandu, Nepal, working within a collective certified by the World Fair Trade Organization. The knitters work flexibly, allowing them to fit their work around family commitments while earning an income. Renu and Rojina coordinate the team, training the women to produce each design and distributing the yarn and materials needed for production.
MATERIAL, CRAFT & NATURAL VARIATION
Our repurposed wool knitwear makes creative use of leftover yarn from workshop knitwear productions, reducing waste and giving every scrap a new purpose. Hand-knitted from mulesing-free 100% sheep wool, the designs showcase playful colour combinations that vary from piece to piece. The exact combination may differ from the product imagery: please contact sales@auraque.com if you need details about current options. A breathable and resilient fibre that is both renewable and biodegradable, wool naturally resists odours and requires relatively infrequent washing. Shades of grey, brown and cream are undyed, while other colours are produced using azo-free dyes. Some designs feature black cotton jersey linings for extra comfort, while others are unlined, as specified in the descriptions.
MORE ABOUT THE ARTISAN PROCESS
- Collecting leftover yarn: Leftover 100% sheep wool yarn from workshop knit productions is carefully stored rather than discarded. Using these smaller quantities helps us make the most of the materials already available to the workshop.
- Combining the colours: The wool remnants are brought together in different colour combinations depending on the lengths of yarn available. The changing mix of colours forms part of the character of the range.
- Knitting by hand: Renu and Rojina coordinate the knitters: training them in the patterns and distributing the wool yarn they need to make each AURA QUE design. Each piece is knitted by hand using traditional knitting techniques; the knitters fit this paid work around their family and other commitments.
- Finishing & checking: For some designs, a soft jersey cotton lining is fitted inside the knitted wool outer for extra warmth and comfort. Concealed seams are machine-stitched, while visible stitching is carefully finished by hand for a neat appearance. Each piece is carefully finished and checked before leaving the workshop.
